$25k reward offered for information leading to arrest of federal fugitive

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – Federal officials have announced that a $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a man charged locally with narcotics distribution — and in Texas with kidnapping, racketeering and murder.

Juan Alberto Mendez, 46, is about 5-foot-7 and weighs between 189 and 250 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and may be using one of several aliases.

He has been wanted for crimes committed in northeast Indiana since a Sept. 23, 2015, indictment on charges involving distribution of heroin, cocaine and marijuana.

An indictment from a Houston federal court added multiple felonies, including kidnapping and murder.

Anyone with information regarding Mendez is asked to call the FBI’s Indianapolis Field Office, Fort Wayne Resident Agency at 260-426-5331.
