NOBLE COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA21) — A touching story in Noble County between two high school friends.

Surveillance video from West Noble High School shows a student, Carl, choking and needed help. The reaction time of his friend Titus is impressive. The athlete performed the Heimlich Maneuver, saving Carl’s life.

The two teens have known each other since first grade and always eat lunch together.

It happened so fast, Principal Gregory Baker learned of the close call from Carl moments after.

“Carl, after he put his lunch tray up, walked by the table and says, ‘hey, Dr. Baker, Titus saved my life’. I said what are you talking about Carl? About that time Titus walked up and I said, why didn’t you tell me about this and he said, ‘well I didn’t think I needed to. I just did what I had to do and just went back eating lunch.’,” Baker said, recalling the event.

Principal Baker said the West Noble Community needed a display of friendship like this after losing a student earlier this year.

The Noble County Sheriff’s Department shared a photo of the two friends on their Facebook page applauding Titus’ quick-thinking, calling him a “hometown hero”.
