FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A New Haven man learned his sentence Wednesday after confessing to killing his wife in September.

Wiley Brown was sentenced to 55 years, with 50 executed for the murder plea deal. ABC21 previously reported Brown walked into the New Haven Police Department’s lobby and said he killed his wife, 24-year-old Courtney Brown.

Courtney’s mother told us the possibility of Brown serving a 50-year sentence is not enough time for what he took from their family.

“I wholeheartedly believe he should be behind bars the rest of his life,” Shawna Gunder said.

Gunder told us she plans to read an impact statement at the sentencing Wednesday.
