Mother sentenced after convicted of neglecting son

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A Fort Wayne mother who a jury found guilty of neglecting her son learned her sentence Friday

Auralea Till was handed a 12-year sentence Friday morning from an Allen County judge.

In July 2017, police say Till was drunk and told them she found her then-8-month-old son Vincent in the living room with a plastic bag over his head.

Court documents say the little boy suffered permanent brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

Vincent’s father talked to ABC21 after the sentencing. He tells us he’s happy with the amount of time she’ll be behind bars but says no amount of time will make up for what she did to little Vincent.

“This is gonna be a lifelong battle with him trying to get him to some sense of normality,” Daniel Lopresti said. “But he’s a strong kid, he won’t give up and neither will I.”
