Man accused of slashing girlfriend with knife, leading police on a chase

WATERLOO, Ind. (ABC21) – DeKalb County Police say a Waterloo man attacked his girlfriend with a knife when she tried to break up with him Saturday afternoon.

Daniel Snow, 45, is facing attempted murder, aggravated battery and domestic battery for allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a knife.

Just before 2 p.m. Saturday, Lynne Wahlstrom called 911 to tell police that her boyfriend Daniel Snow stabbed her.

She told police that when she tried to end things with him, Snow reportedly threatened to kill himself and her animals.

Wahlstrom said that’s when she tried to call police, and the situation turned violent.

Snow took her phone away from her, Walhstrom said, and then cut her neck with a kitchen knife.

When Snow went in for a second time, Wahlstrom said she put her hands up to stop him, and Snow cut her hand and chest.

Police arrived at the home and found a large cut on her neck and chest. Medics rushed her to a local hospital for treatment.

Snow reportedly left the home in a pickup truck before officers arrived, and detectives were able to track him down in the area of SR 8 and SR 327.

When they tried to pull him over, Snow refused to stop and led officers on a chase.

The chase ended momentarily in the 300 block of CR 48.

That’s when police say Snow got out of his truck and put a knife up to his throat before getting back in his pickup to continue running from police.

The pursuit ended in Noble County thanks to stop sticks in the road.

Snow continued driving with flat tires until his truck stopped moving on SR 3 in Noble County.

That’s when police say Snow refused to get out of the truck and started drinking a bottle of Vodka before cutting himself on the neck with the knife.

Police were able to get him into custody and take him to a hospital for treatment.

He was released from the hospital and is now incarcerated at the DeKalb County Jail.

Wahlstrom remains hospitalized at the time of this report.
