Walk for a cause to kick off shoot for the cure event

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A three-mile walk is planned Friday to kick off a benefit for breast cancer research.

Fort Wayne United Futbol Club is hosting the 9th annual Shoot for the Cure event. The event begins Friday with the annual Walk for a Cause. This walk raises money for the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer.

Event organizers say the walk isn’t just about raising money. It’s about showing solidarity and support for those who need it most.

Check-in for the event starts at 5:30 Friday evening at Plex North-Hefner Fields located at 1807 East California Road in Fort Wayne.

Participants can sign up online for $30 until noon Friday. Walk-up registration costs $40. The registration includes a sign for who they walked for as well as 2 drink tickets.

Over the past 8 years, participating teams have raised over $81,000.
