Community leaders host symposium on opioid and substance use disorders

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Community leaders are examining the underlying issues that lead to opioid and substance use disorders Tuesday to discover how people can support people fighting addiction.

The Restoring Community Symposium will bring together experts to discuss topics such as overdose fatality data, the science of substance use disorders, community collaboration efforts, justice system interventions, peer recovery, and current responses to the epidemic.

The event’s goal is to foster connection and collaboration among patients, families, clinicians, mental health providers, judicial systems, government, policymakers, and social service agencies to address opioid abuse.

The sold-out event goes from 8:30-4 Tuesday at Indiana Tech’s Andorfer Commons.
