Fort Wayne City Council to discuss legacy fund spending

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A resolution is in front of Fort Wayne’s City Council, proposing a change in the way they handle legacy funds.

The proposed resolution would develop a legacy funds study committee tackling a number of questions. These questions include topics such as if the common council should approve a grant or loan dropping the legacy fund below $30-million.

Recently, the council expected to discuss Science Central’s planetarium project as a recipient of the funds. The matter was tabled for a second time.

It now looks like the city council could vote to change the process of dispensing the legacy fund moving forward.

The legacy funds come from the City Light Lease Settlement between Fort Wayne and Indiana Michigan Power along with the Fort Wayne Community Trust using a portion of the annual Light Lease payments.
