New Haven seeking applicants for police reserve program

NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WPTA21) — The New Haven Police Department is encouraging people to apply for their police reserve program.

People in the police reserve program volunteer serving New Haven. The program is most visibly noticed during Canal Days, special events. parades and during Halloween patrols.

Reserve officers work a minimum of 16 hours a month. They receive training in criminal law, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, defense tactics and traffic law.

The department is accepting applications until 4 pm on July 24. People can download an application on newhaven.in.gov or pick one up at the station.
