FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – City and county leaders joined with officials and employees of Indiana University Health to mark the start of construction on a fourth local medial complex.
The ceremonial groundbreaking took place at Stellhorn and Lahmeyer roads, where the 25,000 square foot facility will be located.
It will offer services ranging from primary care to urgent care and diagnostics.
IU Health entered the Fort Wayne market when it opened its first medical office — a 10,000 square foot one — in the 7200 block of Engle Road last August. Two other area health care facilities are already in the works.
A primary care facility on Auburn Park Drive is slated to open in July.
IU Health Fort Wayne President Brian Bauer said the occasion reinforced the system’s commitment to an expanded presence in northeast Indiana.
He said the Engle Road office has exceeded projections for patient visits in its first year of operation.
