Power outage strikes nearly 2,000 customers on hot, humid day

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Indiana Michigan Power customers went without air conditioning and lights for a good part of the day on Monday.

With temperatures reaching the low 90’s, I&M spokesperson Tracy Warner confirmed an equipment problem cut power to about 1,950 customers in the city. Work to restore power was slow going. The outage struck around 10:40 Monday morning and by noon, only about 250 customers had their service restored.

The problem impacted eastern portions of the city.

Warner said he expects all power to be restored by 5:00 Monday evening.
