Police looking for suspect in July 4 shooting

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Police are looking for help finding a suspect in a shooting that seriously injured one person.

The Fort Wayne Police Department said they are looking for Carlos Avila in connection with a shooting on July 4 at Baldwin Creek Apartments.

ABC21 previously reported the shooting happened around 6:45 that morning in the 1900 block of Hobson Road. One victim was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police now say warrants are issued for Avila’s arrest in connection with the shooting including:

  • Attempted Murder
  • Burglary
  • Aggravated Battery
  • Violation Probation
  • Dealing Marijuana

Avila is described as a 21-year-old man who is 5’9″ tall and weighs around 140 pounds. He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911. Anyone with information about the shooting should call Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867.
