Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne presents boys with passport to manhood

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A group of boys will receive their passport to manhood Friday morning.

The program teaches boys about character, leadership, and other life skills, with each participant receiving a passport to represent their journey of growth.

Each of the program’s sessions uses interactive activities to focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood. It also includes a service project where boys learn the importance of giving back to the community.

The program works with several hundred young men, some of whom are being recognized at an honorary breakfast Friday morning at the Mirro Center.

During the breakfast, the Boys Club and Girls Clubs of Fort Wayne will honor Dr. Alan McGee at the service. He is a spine surgeon for Ortho Northeast and a past president of African American Healthcare Alliance.

The club will also honor a “young man of the year” that exemplifies the virtues outlined in the program.
