Conjure Coffee commits to Electric Works locations

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – A popular coffee house on the east side of downtown Fort Wayne has committed to open two new locations at the proposed Electric Works project.

Conjure Coffee signed a letter of intent to open a café in the Electric Works Innovation Center and a café, coffee bar and roastery in the food hall and public market there.

In an announcement Thursday afternoon, planners said the café will feature tiered seating overlooking the roasting facilities and a tasting room for “community education and engagement.”

The new locations would complement the original Columbia Avenue coffee house, which opened in 2016.

“This is an exceptional and unique opportunity for us, and given the site’s heritage of innovation and making things, we love the idea of the roastery inside Electric Works,” founder Corey Waldron said. “As a Fort Wayne native, I love the vision for Electric Works and what it represents. I’ve also been inspired by my experiences with food halls and innovation spaces in my travels to other cities — and I’m thrilled about Electric Works bringing those experiences to our region.”

The Electric Works multi-purpose project is planned for the former General Electric campus and is a public-private venture led by RTM Ventures and the City of Fort Wayne.

The development would encompass up to 18 buildings on 39 acres of land.
