FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – A Fort Wayne Police officer accused of sex crimes involving a teen has been extradited back to Allen County.

Sgt. Andrew Beck is suspended from the Fort Wayne Police Department.

He was arrested last month in California on charges of child solicitation, dissemination of matter harmful to minors and possession of child pornography.

Beck was on military deployment at the time of the arrest.

Law enforcement officials transported him from California to Allen County to face those charges. Beck was booked into the Allen County Jail Wednesday afternoon.

Beck will stand before an Allen County judge for his initial hearing on Thursday.

He has since been on paid suspension by the Fort Wayne Police Department. A spokesperson told ABC21 the Board of Public Safety vote does not mean the immediate termination of pay, but is a step toward it.

According to court documents, a Wayne High School student told another school resource officer in early April that Andrew Beck had a relationship with a 16-year-old student.

The teen victim told detectives that she would talk to Beck using Snapchat. She said their conversations were sexual in nature and Beck would send nude photos of himself.

She said there was at least one time that Beck sent her a Snapchat saying he was outside her house, and she looked outside and saw an unmarked police SUV parked down the road.

Beck is a 13-year veteran of the FWPD.
