FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – City Utilities officials are hoping to defend their title of Indiana’s tastiest water this year.
Last year, Fort Wayne’s Three Rivers Filtration Plant was named the best tasting water in the state of Indiana.
The competition focused on 3 things: clarity, odor, and taste. Fort Wayne was able to edge out the other regional winners.
Throughout the year, the Alliance of Indiana Rural Water held 4 different regional competitions around the state.
At their Fall conference on Oct. 23, hosted at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, the regional winners will compete for the state title.
Fort Wayne City Utilities – Three Rivers Filtration Plant, Mapleturn Utilities, Lagro Municipal Water Utility, and Watson Rural Water Company are fighting it out for the honor.
The competition is part of the Quality On Tap! campaign to emphasize the high quality, standards, and, consequently, taste of rural water.
The winner of the “Best Tasting Water in Indiana” will advance to compete in “The Great American Water Taste Test,” a national contest, at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. in early February 2020.
