Bicyclist flown to Fort Wayne hospital after two cars hit him

LAGRANGE, Ind. (WPTA21) – A bicyclist is recovering in a Fort Wayne hospital after police said two cars struck him this morning.

Around 5:30 a.m., 50-year-old Richard Bontrager was riding his bike northbound on CR 00 EW from CR 200 S, when a vehicle struck him from behind.

The collision left Bontrager lying in the road when another vehicle struck him, too.

This time, the pickup truck driver stopped.

Ralph Geesaman, 66, said he didn’t see Bontrager in the road before running him over with his Ford F-150.

Medics rushed the bicyclist to a local hospital before flying him to a Fort Wayne hospital for his injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this crash is asked to contact the LaGrange County Sheriff’s at 260 463-7491.
