Konchar makes history, Mastodons fall to North Dakota

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — The Mastodons lost on Thursday night, one senior still made history in the process.

John Konchar scored 27 points for Purdue Fort Wayne, in a 88-82 loss to visiting North Dakota. That pushed Konchar past the 2,000-point mark for his career, and he’s now the only player in NCAA Division-I history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, 500 assists, and 200 steals.

As for the game at the Gates Center on Thursday night, the Mastodons started off well enough, taking a six-point lead to halftime.

The Fighting Hawks made a huge run to start the second half though, eventually going up by 17. The Mastodons settled down after that, drawing within four-points a couple times during the final minutes, but the Hawks held on for the win.

In addition to Konchar’s big night, Jared Godfrey and Matt Weir made a solid impact off the Purdue Fort Wayne, scoring 12 points each.

Cortez Seales paced the Fighting Hawks with a game high 32 points.

The Mastodons end the regular season on Saturday, with a 5pm game at the Gates Center agianst North Dakota State.
