Tech heads to Kentucky for NAIA baseball tournament play

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WPTA21) – Indiana Tech will be headed to the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Kentucky as the number two seed in the Williamsburg Bracket for the 2019 NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round.

The Warriors will take on third-seeded Lyon College (Ark.) on Monday in a first round game.

Winners of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference regular season and tournament, the Warriors are 38-14-1 and ranked 23rd in the NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 Poll. This will be the first-ever meeting between Tech and the Scots and the first time that the Orange and Black will travel to Williamsburg for the Opening Round of the NAIA Baseball National Championship.

It is the 20th time the Warriors have qualified for the NAIA postseason and the eighth time in the Opening Round format.

Tech and Lyon will be joined in Williamsburg by fourth-seeded Mobile University (Ala.), fifth-seeded Baker University (Kan.) and the number one seed and host University of the Cumberlands. The Warriors and Scots will be the second game of the opening round on Monday and first pitch is set for 3 p.m. EDT from Doyle Buhl Stadium.
