Central Noble wins regional title, other area schools fall

UNDATED (WPTA21) – Defending 2A girls basketball state champ Central Noble won a second straight regional title on Saturday.

Other area schools were not as fortunate.

In 4A at Kokomo, fifth ranked Homestead was ousted by top ranked Hamilton Southeastern 57-47 in the final after the Spartans had survived in two overtimes in the semifinal against Zionsville 66-65.

Carroll was beaten 59-34 by Hamilton Southeastern in the other semifinal.

Marion won the 3A Columbia City regional final 55-52 in overtime over Angola despite 28 points by the Hornets’ Hana Noll.

Central Noble won its Winamac 2A regional title with a semifinal 64-51 win over Hammond Noll led by 28 points from Sydney Freeman.  The Cougars then went on to take the title with a 43-37 win over North Judson, again led by Freeman with 21 points.

North Judson had made the final with a 5-44 win over Bluffton.

Fremont lost the 1A Caston final to Michigan City Marquette 57-25, but Northfield won the Tipton regional by beating Blue River 55-41 in the final.
