Rehrer steps down as Wayne boys hoops coach

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – Aaron Rehrer has stepped down as Wayne boys basketball coach after nine seasons.

Rehrer was 96-105 in those nine seasons, including 16-7 and 15-10 the past two campaigns.

Rehrer, who will remain at Wayne as a teacher and also an assistant cross country coach, told his team Thursday, waiting until after Wednesday night’s Summit Athletic Conference basketball banquet so to not distract attention from the events of that evening.

He cited desire for more family time with his wife and two young children and does not rule out a return to coaching basketball in the future.
