Jaylon Smith to receive Mad Anthonys Red Coat

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – The Mad Anthonys will recognize Fort Wayne native and NFL star Jaylon Smith, as well as local business leader and philanthropist John Tippmann, Sr., as its 2019 Red Coat recipients.

The Mad Anthonys will honor Smith and Tippmann at its Red Coat Dinner on June 14. It’ s annual charity golf event will take place June 15. Both events will be held at Fort Wayne Country Club.

“If there’s a word that ties Jaylon and John together, it’s ‘commitment,’” said Mike Wallace, president of Mad Anthonys. “As a hugely successful entrepreneur and servant leader, John’s commitment to his faith, family, generosity and business is unparalleled. From Bishop Luers High School to Notre Dame to Dallas Cowboys, Jaylon has achieved what many dream about. What makes Jaylon unique is his desire to give back to Fort Wayne. We are thrilled to recognize them both as this year’s Red Coat recipients.”

A Fort Wayne native, Smith was a standout football player at Bishop Luers High School and Notre Dame, where he was an All-American and the 2015 Dick Butkus Award winner. Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2016, he’s established himself as one of the NFL’s most versatile and athletic linebackers.

At the same time, he’s also become one of the NFL’s best citizens off the field. His Clear Eye View (CEV) Charitable Fund provides funding to his Minority Entrepreneurship Institute, which focuses on supporting minority entrepreneurship to close the economic and educational gap for minorities through resources, education and accessibility that minority entrepreneurs need to succeed.
