Komets open weekend with win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – The Komets used a four goal flurry in the first period to fuel their 5-2 win over the Wichita Thunder Friday night at the Memorial Coliseum.

Jamie Schaafsma opened the scoring with a power play goal six minutes into the game, and then after Wichita had tied it, Jason Binkley netted a shot along the ice from the top of the slot to give the K’s the lead for good.

J.C. Campagna and Chase Stewart had the rest of the first period scores, and Jake Kamrass finished the scoring night for Fort Wayne in the third period.

Zach Fucale counted several great stops among the 23 he made on 25 shots for the win in goal.
