Komets drop first of three games in Newfoundland

ST. JOHN’, Newfoundland (WPTA21) – The Komets twice rallied from behind but ended up 3-2 losers in a shootout at Newfoundland Friday night.

J.C. Campagna netted both of the Fort Wayne goals, the first in the first period to erase a 1-0 Growlers lead, and then in the third to tie the game at two.

Regulation and overtime did not change that 2-2 score, and after Campagna scored for Fort Wayne to open the shootout, the next six Komet shooters were stopped, while Newfoundland scored twice in the shootout.

Game 2 of the Komets’ three game stay in St. John’s is Saturday night.
