FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — After a rough weekend, the Komets returned to the win column with a 6-5 victory over the Nailers.

J.C. Campagna opened the night with a score 55 seconds into the game, and the K’s struck again after Jamie Schaafsma’s goal on an excellent feed from Kyle Hope.

The Nailers got a pair of goals later in the period, but Mason Baptista would net the third Fort Wayne goal, to take a 3-2 lead into the first intermission.

The Komets added two more goals in the second, a power play goal from Campagna, and a short-handed strike from Shawn Szydlowski.

Baptista would score again in the third, but Wheeling posted three goals in the period, making things interesting down the stretch, but Zach Fucale would fight off a few shots in the final minutes to hold on for the victory.

The Komets will travel to Kalamazoo to face the Wings on Friday night.
