FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Rain and chilly temperatures didn’t slow down TinCaps Opening Day starter Ryan Weathers.

Weathers, the 10th-ranked prospect in the Padres farm system (according to MLB.com), had a great 2019 debut, helping the TinCaps earn a 3-0 win at Parkview Field.

Weathers went five innings, allowing six hits with nine strikeouts. He ended up with a no-decision because the TinCaps hadn’t scored yet when he came out of the game.

The Fort Wayne offense broke through in the sixth, with RBI hits from Agustin Ruiz and Xavier Edwards. The TinCaps added their other run in the seventh on a double from Blake Hunt.

Jose Quezada (1-0) threw a scoreless sixth to pick up the win. Angel Acevedo earned a hold, tossing the seventh and eighth innings. Carlos Belen finished up the game in the ninth, picking up the save.
