FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Ryan Weathers wore down the Dragons lineup, and the TinCaps ran off their best run total of the season, as Fort Wayne beat Dayton 12-2 on Wednesday afternoon.

Weathers (W, 1-0) went six innings, allowing two runs on five hits, while striking out eight. Despite the large margin of victory, Trent Shelton earned a save, throwing three scoreless frames to end the game.

The TinCaps bats started off with three runs in the first, and another in the fourth to give Weathers and early cushion.

Xavier Edwards and Grant Little each tallied three hits on Wednesday.

The TinCaps improve to 5-2 on the season, and 4-1 at home. They’ll go for a four-game sweep when they finish their series with Dayton on Thursday night.
