TOLEDO, Ohio (WPTA21) — The Komets were unable to ‘steal’ game one at Toledo, with the Walleye winning the playoff opener 3-2.

Matt Register scored the first goal of the series, giving Toledo a lead midway through the first.

After a scoreless second, the Komets tied it early in the third on a Jake Kamrass goal.

Toledo grabbed the momentum back later in the period, with a pair of goals from Bryan Moore and Greg Wolfe in a 23 second stretch.

The Komets made things interesting though, with a power play goal from Brady Shaw with 1:26 remaining.

Fort Wayne only got one shot on goal after that, an attempt from Shawn Szydlowski with 0:20 on the clock, saved by former Komet Pat Nagle.

Toledo will host game two on Saturday at 7:35pm.
