FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — Another veteran player will not return to the Komets locker room in October.

Wednesday, captain Jamie Schaafsma announced on Twitter that he’s not getting the opportunity to return for a fifth season in Fort Wayne.

Schaafsma joined the Komets before the 2015-16 season. In four season, Schaafsma recorded 68 goals and 159 points, playing in 238 games.

He took home five team awards at the end of the latest season, including the Komets MVP.

With Schaafsma’s departure, the Komets have opened up three of their four ‘veteran player’ slots. If Shawn Szydlowski does not return, all four will be open.
