Wild pitches doom TinCaps

MIDLAND, Mich. (WPTA21) – A pair of wild pitches were the difference as the TinCaps paid for those errant heaves with a 2-1 loss at Great Lakes Saturday night.

Starting pitchers Robinson Ortiz of Great Lakes and Sam Keating of Fort Wayne threw six and five innings respectively of shutout baseball.

The Loons scored first in the eight inning when Jose Quezada, needing just one strike to end the inning, instead threw a wild pitch to allow Great Lakes to take a 1-0 lead.

A Jose Fernandez sacrifice fly in the ninth allowed the TinCaps to tie it.

But Henry Henry’s wild pitch in the bottom of the eleventh allowed the Loons to score the winning run.
