TinCaps can’t complete sweep, shutout by Loons

MIDLAND, Mich. (WPTA21) — The TinCaps fell 3-0 at Great Lakes Monday night, as Fort Wayne failed to complete a three-game sweep.

Joey Cantillo (L, 6-3) had a rough start, walking in a run in the first inning before getting his first out. The 19-year-old lefty rebounded relatively well after that. He ended up allowing three earned runs over five innings of work.

The TinCaps made things interesting in the ninth, loading the bases with one out. Justin Lopez put a strong swing on the ball, but grounded it right to the first baseman for a game-ending 3-6-1 double play.

The ‘Caps have a day off on Tuesday. They’ll start up a new three-game series at Burlington on Wednesday night.
