Weathers struggles early, TinCaps fall at Great Lakes

MIDLAND, Mich. (WPTA21) — TinCaps All-Star Ryan Weathers had a rough night on the road, as Fort Wayne fell to Great Lakes.

Weathers (L, 3-5)  gave up three runs in the first inning, and a couple more in the fifth. In all, he surrendered eight hits over his five innings of work, with four strikeouts and no walks.

The TinCaps did all of their damage offensively in the seventh, getting three of their four runs on a triple from Tyler Benson.

That drew Fort Wayne within one, but the Loons quickly got some insurance on a solo homer from Leonel Valera in the bottom of the seventh.

The series continues at Great Lakes on Wednesday night at 7:05pm.
