FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — After a quiet debut on Tuesday, Padres prospect CJ Abrams made some noise Wednesday night, helping the TinCaps beat the Dragons 5-1.

Abrams, the sixth overall pick in this year’s MLB Draft, went 2-4 against Dayton, with an infield single in the first and a ground-rule double in the fourth.

After that double he would score the first run of the evening, coming home on a RBI single from Tucupita Marcano.

TinCaps pitching did an excellent job as well. Omar Cruz (W, 2-1) came off the injured list and delivered 5.1 innings of solid work, allowing one run on three hits and a walk, while picking up six strikeouts.

The TinCaps and Dragons continue their series with a game Thursday night at 7:05pm.
