FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) — A pretty boring night for the TinCaps offense got really interesting in the final innings against the visiting Hot Rods.

A late rally fell just short, as Bowling Green held on for a 4-3 win.

The Hot Rods did all of their damage in the first two innings, tallying four earned runs on ‘Caps starter Edwuin Bencomo.

Chris Givin drove in the first TinCaps run with a sac fly in the eighth inning.

Things really picked up in the bottom of the ninth. Michael Curry started the frame with a solo homer, cutting the deficit to two. Justin Lopez followed with a double, then Dwanya Williams-Sutton drew a hit by pitch to bring the go-ahead run to the plate with no outs.

After a pair of unsuccessful plate appearances from Juan Fernandez and Ethan Skender, the TinCaps were down to their final out with runners at the corners.

Jawuan Harris took the first pitch of his at bat out to left for a double. Justin Lopez scored, and Skender tried to follow him, but was thrown out at home by left fielder Jordan Qsar.

The TinCaps will try to end the series with a victory on Tuesday with a 7:05pm start against Bowling Green.
