FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – Brycen Martin’s goal with 18 seconds gone in the game lit the fire for the Komets’ 5-2 season opening win over the Kalamazoo K-Wings Saturday night.

Martin’s unassisted goal off a steal got it rolling, and before it was over, Matthew Boudens had scored twice and Alan Lyszczarczyk and Mason Bergh once each for the K’s, who game new head coach Ben Boudreau a win in his first game in the job in front of 9,505 Opening Night fans.

The Komets won despite being outshot 43-26
