USF reaches NAIA football semifinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – Saint Francis is a win away from returning to the NAIA football national championship game after a 33-23 playoff quarterfinal win over Baker of Kansas on Saturday.

Matt Crable hit Dan Ricksy with a pair of touchdown passes and P.J. Dean ran for two scores for the eighth ranked Cougars, who will now play at top seeded Morningside in Sioux City, Iowa in the semifinals.

The Cougars beat Morningside 43-35 in the semifinals last year as D’Arcy Stadium.

Mitchell Thornbury had the other USF touchdown when he took a fumble 75 yards to the endzone in the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring.
