FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA21) – A globally recognized photographer born and raised in the Fort captured iconic photos of the 41st President. He shared his experience of Mr. Bush through his own lens.

Peter Turnley was born and raised here in the Fort and moved to France to begin his career in photography. His career took him to more than 90 countries and opened doors that allowed him to meet the 41st President.

Turnley followed the 41st President and captured iconic moments of Mr. Bush.

He said through his experience, he remembered Mr. Bush through his honor, dignity and most importantly, his kindness and devotion to his country.

“I always perceived he was a decent kind man,” Turnley said. “His gestures, the way he spoke to people, his laughter, I could tell he had a good sense of humor.”
