Update: Saturday to bring accumulating snow

Remaining Ad Time Ad - 00:00

The first significant snowfall of the winter is likely this weekend. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for parts of northern Indiana while a Winter Storm Warning has been issued for most of southern Indiana for Friday night through Sunday morning.

Snow is expected across Indiana and Ohio starting early Saturday and ending Sunday with bands of heavy snow possible mid to late Saturday. The strongest impacts will be felt in Indianapolis and southern Indiana where several inches of snow is likely. For our area, we are expecting one to three inches of snow in the Fort Wayne metro, with closer to an inch or less up by the Michigan border. Three to five inches of snow may accumulate towards Marion and Portland, with an isolated spot close to six not out of the question.

Hazardous road conditions are likely with heavy snow reducing visibility while accumulating snow creating slick and impassable roadways. Blizzard conditions are not likely with winds remaining well below 30 miles per hour.
